Best Pest Control Over the Summer: Try These 5 Tactics
Summer can mean a lot of great things for businesses, but it also means bugs are out in full force. When you are in charge of a commercial property, summer can quickly turn into a nightmare, as you focus on keeping pests at bay. As the months become warmer, there is often an influx of pests, including ants, roaches, bees, wasps, mosquitoes and rodents. An increase of pest activity is a major problem for commercial property owners, as it can become a customer deterrent. Command7 knows all about this subject, which is why we have put together some ways to approach pest control this summer.
1. Scrutinize Grassy Areas
Fire ants are prevalent in the Southeast, but have been spotted in many other states. These pests have a painful bite and are aggressive in nature. They tend to congregate in hot locations that provide plenty of sun and can be found within grass patches in parking lots and outside commercial buildings. Keep an eye out for these pests and report any activity to your pest control company.
2. Look for Nests and Hives
While only one or two out of 1000 of the population are allergic to bees and wasps, these creatures can still cause immense pain and discomfort. The mere presence of these pests can turn off your customers, especially with the heightened attention of Africanized honey bees. It is imperative to walk around the property regularly to look for wasp nests and bee hives. However, only a trained pest control professional should attempt to remove them.
3. Replace Door and Window Weather Stripping
Not only does weather stripping seal air leaks, it also keeps out small pests. Summer is a great time to replace weather stripping around doors and windows of your commercial property.
4. Have the Property Inspected for Termites
An annual termite inspection should be part of your property maintenance checklist. Termites can cause major damage to structures and inventory, which may hurt your company financially. By the time a property owner spots a termite infestation, it is often too late, meaning the cost of repairs is high.
5. Continue with Regular Pest Control Services
Some of the best pest control involves continuous maintenance. Don’t give unwanted intruders the chance to enter your property. Regularly engage an exterminator to keep pests away. Command7 can help you plan, monitor and track ongoing commercial pest control services. For more information, call us at 855-214-2168 or fill out our contact form.

Looking for nests and hives seems like a great way for businesses to prevent pest infestations. I’m glad that you used bees and wasps as an example of how they can be a problem in the workplace. I can see how having wasp nests around an office building can make it uncomfortable for employees to go to work. That would be a good reason for hiring a pest control company to make sure that staff members don’t have to worry about pests buzzing around when they’re trying to come in and out of a building.
